The Count Team Lead Supervisor, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for ensuring that all slot machines are emptied of coin, currency, and tickets, and taken to the count rooms for the count. The position is responsible for the handling of game drops and supervising the movement of cash and cash equivalents including the balancing, counting and reconciliation to source documents throughout the Casino complex. The position is responsible for the smooth running of the count in both hard and soft count areas. The position is responsible for providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

 

  • Oversees the drop of cash, cash equivalent and locked boxes (Tables and Slots) from the Casino gaming equipment, and ensuring compliance with the established minimum internal control standards.
  • Records the counting of all monies taken in by the casino.
  • Wraps and/or bags all cash equivalents following established standards. Deposits must be prepared following Federal Depository requirements.                                                                        
  • Balances and reconciles cash and cash equivalents.
  • Complies with all National Indian Gaming Control (NIGC) count room procedures.
  • Coordinates internal and external maintenance and repairs of count room systems and equipment.
  • Reviews variance investigation reports and works with Accounting/MIS to resolve variances between the actual drop and system generated/team member documented totals.
  • Issues and retrieves sensitive keys used for the drop and count process.
  • Verifies and documents the presence of all sensitive keys in the count teams locked key control box. 
  • Prepares and creates count reports for all Casino locations.
  • Prepares, creates and reviews Cage budgets for all casino locations.
  • Creates and maintains team member schedules, approves vacation, sick and personal time, hires, fires, processes sick, vacation and personal days, completes performance appraisals and coordinates team member trainings. 
  • Trains team members on the proper use of equipment and department procedures.
  • Prepares reports and documents procedures.       
  • Performs annual review of count room procedures against changes in the National Indian Gaming Commission requirements and incorporates and updates Count Team procedures as needed.
  • Sets up new and existing computer systems and interfaces.       
  • Assists Slot Department with troubleshooting machine malfunctions during drop process.                  

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

 

  • Orders and maintains supplies.    
  • Orders and maintains the machines needed for the drop and count of monies.             
  • Ensures customer safety while moving heavy cards throughout Casino complex.
  • ·         Fills in for Count Team Counters, Count Team Verifiers and Count Team Supervisor as needed.
  • ·         Transports fellow team members to other Kewadin Casino locations.
  • All other job related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Position heavy with lifting of 100 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Physical factors include constant standing, walking, carrying/lifting, stooping, kneeling, manual handling, bending; frequent pushing/pulling, reaching, use of hearing, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color/field of vision, driving and working in small confined spaces, typing; occasional sitting, climbing, crawling and use of smell. Working conditions include frequent exposure to extreme heat/cold, noise, vibration, air quality and dimly lit areas; occasional exposure to weather and wet/humidity.  Potential hazards include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, computer use, equipment; occasional exposure to electric shock and chemicals.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

 

Experience: Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience required. Five years count team verifying experience preferred.

 

Certification/License: Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with the annual driver license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must maintain confidentiality. Must undergo a Criminal investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have working knowledge and be able to use word processing and database software. Must have working knowledge and be able to use office machines, such as calculator, fax, printer, and computer. Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn weigh scales and G&D 500, Cash-pro system or similar currency and ticket processing machines. Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn to use SDS, STC and Casino marketplace, Kronos and JD Edwards. Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn Kewadin Casinos policies and procedures. Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn of National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and count team procedures. Must have ability to learn and understand basic departmental financial information, prepare annual budgets and monitor actual results against budgeted amounts. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in person, in writing, and by telephone and email.    Must have ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols. Must have computer trouble shooting skills. Must have problem solving skills. Must have basic math skills. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers, subordinates and the general public. Must be able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations. Position required being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must be able to work extended hours when needed.  Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel.  Native American preferred.

 

REMUNERATION:                        $11.59 per hour
