The Restaurant Assistant Manager I, under the supervision of the Restaurant Manager or Food and Beverage Director, is responsible for performing functions such as assisting with scheduling staff, guest relations, customer service, training and personnel supervision. The position is responsible for providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)


  • Maintains a high level of customer service.
  • Schedules staff.
  • Maintains proper and responsible food and beverage service, sanitation and customer service procedures.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of community and Casino functions.
  • Ensures adequate operational supplies are on hand, including monthly inventory.
  • Assists in monitoring and controlling labor and operational expenses.   
  • Oversees team members, which includes items such as staffing, hiring, training, motivating, conducting performance appraisals and issuing disciplinary action.
  • Assists with coordinating activities and correcting problems within the department.    
  • Assist in the preparation and maintaining of records, financials and proposals.                         
  • Ensures all incident reports are reported accurately, in detail and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for all team members.                                                        
  • Assists in the creation and monitoring of budgets.                                                                     
  • Ability to assist in the development and application of new policies and procedures.               
  • Helps evaluate operational procedures; recommends changes to enhance efficiency and quality, and implements approved changes as necessary.   


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)


  • Complies with all departmental and company rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Performs job functions of subordinate team members as necessary.       
  • Attends seminars, classes, workshops and management meetings as required.  
  • All other job related duties as assigned.




Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, board of directors, customers and outside vendors/service providers.




Position medium with lifting of 50 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Physical factors include constant standing, walking, pushing/pulling, use of hearing, smell, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception and color/field of vision; frequent carrying/lifting, stooping, reaching, manual handling, typing and bending and occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling and crawling. Working conditions include constant exposure to noise and air quality; frequent exposure to extreme hot/cold and dimly lit conditions and occasional exposure to weather, wet/humidity and vibration. Potential hazards include constant exposure to moving mechanical parts, electric shock, chemicals, computer use and equipment and occasional exposure to high exposed places, insecticides/pesticides and needles/syringes.




Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.


Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working in high volume food operations required. Minimum of 2 years management experience in high volume food and beverage operations required.


Certification/License: Sanitation Certificate required within 6 months of hire, training will be provided. T.I.P.'s Certification required within the first 3 months of hire, training will be provided. Must undergo a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers, subordinates and the general public. Must have organizational skills and be able to plan, prioritize and manage workloads to meet goals in a timely manner. Must have working knowledge and be able to use office machines such as calculator, copier, fax, printer and computer. Must have working knowledge and be able to use word processing and spreadsheet and data base software. Must have knowledge of restaurant operations.  Must maintain confidentiality. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in person, in writing, and by telephone and email. Must be able to make and apply sound judgment. Must have good project management skills; provide strong leadership, prioritize project tasks and meet project deadlines. Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Native American preferred.
