Under the direction of the Casino General Manager, the Administrative Assistant provides the necessary administrative support needed to maintain office operations by performing clerical functions such as maintenance of records; assisting in the conducting of research, compiling reports, and working on assigned projects. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)


  • Attends meetings, prepares agendas, makes meeting arrangements and takes and maintains meeting minutes for all internal department meetings and other meetings when applicable.
  • Composes and edits memos, letters, and reports and answers phone calls and routes to appropriate individuals or departments.
  • Maintains records management systems, files and retrieves documents, records, reports and organizes employee relation projects.
  • Processes contracts and service agreements for various functions booked at casino; conferences, weddings, etc.
  • Works as Department liaison and responds to customer, vendor, and department inquires.
  • Assists management with the coordination of projects including follow-up as needed.
  • Confirms project arrangements such as booking of rooms, arranging for refreshments and ensuring audio/visual equipment arrangements have been completed.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)


  • Opens and sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Coordinates trainings for Department managers.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.




Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, customers and outside vendors/service providers.




Position is sedentary – primarily sitting and lifting of maximum of 10 pounds.  Physical factors include being able to constantly sitting, manual handing, use of hearing and typing; constant sitting, walking, use of near/midrange/far vision and color/field of vision; and occasional stooping, kneeling, reaching, depth perception and travel. Working conditions include constant exposure to noise and air quality. Potential hazards include constant computer use. 




Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Administrative Studies preferred.


Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience performing general office administrative work required.


Certification/License: Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing. Must undergo a Criminal Background Investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Must provide attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations. Must have working knowledge and ability to use word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Must have working knowledge and ability to use various types of office equipment and machinery including items such as telephones, fax machines, printers, calculators, etc. Excellent organizational, strategic and project management skills required. Knowledge and ability to maintain complex extensive recordkeeping systems for archiving and maintaining reference materials preferred. Effective typing/keyboarding skills preferred. Demonstrated experience with Novell GroupWise, JD Edwards, Kronos systems, and other casino programs preferred. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.  Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers, subordinates and the general public.  Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evening as needed to accommodate business demands.  Must be able to learn and comprehend department procedures, accounting and governmental procedures. Must be able to follow verbal and written directions, interpret rules and office procedures, performing functions in accordance with existing policies and procedures. Must be able to handles stress and meet deadlines. Must maintain confidentiality. Native American preferred.



REMUNERATION:                        $13.30 per hour (Negotiable)
