The Motorpool Manager, under the direction of the Casino General Manager, is responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating the activities and operations of the vehicle maintenance program and shuttle services. This position is responsible for providing efficient, courteous and safe transportation services to all guests and patrons of Kewadin Casinos as well as providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations.   

                                                           

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

 

  • Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates      Motorpool personnel; provides or coordinates team member training; works      with team members to correct deficiencies and implements discipline and      termination procedures.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates daily and      weekly priorities, the Motorpool's work plan; meets with team members to      identify and resolve problems; assigns projects and areas of      responsibility and reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures.
  • Assumes management responsibility for      all Motorpool services and activities including the following; vehicle      repair and maintenance, equipment replacement and specifications,      preventative maintenance, seasonal equipment preparation, equipment      preparation for governmental use programs, vehicle reporting, billing,      accounts payable and fleet management information systems, including parts      and fuel inventory interfaces with purchasing, inventory, and accounting      applications.
  • Manages the development and      implementation of Motorpool goals, objectives, procedures and priorities      for each assigned service area; establishes, within company policy,      appropriate service and staffing levels and allocates resources      accordingly.
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates the      efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities for      improvement; directs the implementation of changes; maintains efficient      and cost-effective emergency response teams.
  • Coordinates Motorpool activities with      those of other departments and outside agencies and organizations;      prepares and presents team member reports and other necessary      correspondence.
  • Ensures all phases of vehicle      maintenance and other related maintenance activities are in compliance      with federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and codes.
  • Manages and participates in the      development and administration of the department budget.
  • Forecasts additional funding necessary      for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Monitors and approves expenditures.
  • Directs the preparation of and      implements budgetary adjustments as necessary.

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

 

  • Maintains      Motorpool information, i.e. vehicle data, driver data and preventative      maintenance data into database as it relates to Motorpool.
  • Schedules      M.D.O.T. Random Drug and Alcohol testing for all CDL drivers within Sault      Tribe.
  • Implements      Federal and State regulations assigned by Department of Transportation      (DOT).
  • Audits      repair and maintenance files to ensure they meet DOT Standards.
  • Files      fuel tax with the State of Michigan for the tax returns.
  • Registers      the coaches DOT Number and I.C.C. numbers.
  • Performs      regular and annual vehicle inspections.
  • Responds      to and resolves difficult and sensitive inquiries and complains with both      internal and external customers.
  • Attends      and participates in company meetings as necessary.
  • Stays      abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of vehicle maintenance      as well as the shuttle service industry.
  • May be      required to transport customers or team members by way of van or shuttle.
  • All other job related duties as      assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Position sedentary primarily sitting/lifting of maximum of 10 pounds. Physical factors include constant sitting, use of hearing, near/midrange/far vision and typing; occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling and reaching and occasional travel. Working conditions include occasional exposure to extreme heat/cold, noise and vibration. Potential hazards include constant computer and equipment use. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Automotive Trade/Technical Certification in Automotive Repair preferred.

 

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in passenger transportation and automotive repair required; 10 years preferred.

 

Certification/License: Must undergo a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe
Insurance Department. Must have or obtain Driver's License C.D.L. Class B with a P endorsement within 6 months of hire.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

 

Knowledge of automotive repair required.

 

Knowledge of Federal and State vehicle regulations required.

 

Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet and database email software preferred.

 

Knowledge of Michigan Secretary of State Licensing requirements for vehicle operations required.

 

Must be able to look at schedules and prioritize work to meet deadlines for Tribal events at all 5 casinos.

 

Must have excellent organizational skills; organizing work, prioritizing tasks and managing time.

 

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

 

Knowledge of MDOT requirements and regulations required.

 

Ability to analyze problems and data to find effective solutions required.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with employees, guests and vendors required.

 

Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision.

 

Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.

 

Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

 

Must be able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations.

 

Position required being on-call for vehicle breakdowns and/or accidents when they occur based on business needs.

 

Native American preferred.

 

REMUNERATION:                        $34, 427 ($16.55/hr) (Negotiable)
