The Carpenter, under the supervision of the Lead Carpenter or Field Superintendent, is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing and repairing building structures and residential home fixtures in conformance to applicable building codes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Constructs, erects, installs and repair building structures.
- Reads blue prints and prepares lays out project, marks and cuts, and assembles building materials as needed.
- Assembles construction and building materials as required.
- Installs building materials on new construction and rehabilitation projects.
- Requests materials for projects from warehouse
- Follows established safety rules and building codes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Erects scaffolding.
- All other job related duties as assigned.
Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, Executives, customers and outside vendors/service providers.
Position very heavy with lifting objects over 100 pounds with team or dual lifting and frequent lifting/carrying of more than 50 pounds. Physical factors include constant standing, walking; frequent carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, manual handling, use of hearing, bending; occasional sitting, use of smell, near/midrange/vision, depth perception, and color/field of vision. Working conditions include constant exposure to extreme weather, heat/cold, wet/humidity, noise and vibration and occasional exposure to air quality. Protective equipment clothing needed to perform job include hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear and other protective equipment needed to perform functions of position.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of residential or commercial construction experience required
Certification/License: Construction Trade or Technical Certificate preferred. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have general construction knowledge for new construction and remodeling projects. Must be able to read and interpret documents regarding safety, operating & maintenance instructions and procedures. Must have knowledge and be able to safely use hand and power tools of the trade. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers and the general public. Must have basic math skills. Must be able to organize tasks for completion and be able to work independently. Must be able to handle physically demanding situations. Native American preferred.
