The Homemaker Aide, under the general supervision of the Eldercare Services Division Director, is a paraprofessional worker who is responsible for providing home health care delivery. The position's top priority is Native American Elderly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Cares for elderly clients in their homes.
- Performs any combination of homemaking, chore and outreach services.
- Performs variety of miscellaneous duties requested in delivering home health care.
- Maintains records of services performed.
- Observes the general welfare of the client and reports if there are major concerns or changes in client's condition.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- All other job related duties as assigned.
Immediate peers, immediate supervisor/manager, customers/clients and their families and outside vendors/service providers.
Position very heavy with lifting of objects over 100 pounds and frequent lifting/carrying of more than 50 pounds. Physical factors include constant standing, walking, lifting , use of hearing, smell, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color/field of vision and driving; frequent sitting, carrying/pushing/pulling, reaching; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, manual handling and bending. Working conditions include constant exposure to weather, extreme heat/cold, wet/humidity; occasional exposure to noise, vibration and air quality. Potential hazards include constant client contact, frequent exposure to chemicals, infectious exposure, needles/syringes; occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment.
Education: None required.
Experience: None required.
Certification/License: Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Will be required to undergo and successfully pass a background check. Must maintain a good moral character standing. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of CPR preferred. Must maintain confidentiality. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have excellent public relation/customer service skills and be able to exhibit friendly and positive attitude and establish and maintain effective communication with co-workers, supervisors and guests. Native American preferred.
