The Video Producer, under the direction of the Copy Editor, is responsible for professional level videography and editing. The position is responsible for sustainable videography, recording, searchable archive and livestreaming Board of Directors meetings, events, and any future creative endeavors pursued by Sault Tribe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Oversee the planning, budgeting, and execution of all content projects.
  • Manage and maintain annual video production budget.
  • Coordinate schedules and logistics to ensure smooth production process.
  • Operate cameras and equipment during filming, ensuring high-quality footage.
  • Records and uploads Board of Directors meeting video for livestream, maintains channel, and posts meeting video to website.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for editing and managing post-production needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest video production equipment and software tools.
  • Maintains all production equipment is well-maintained and inventoried.
  • Responsible for developing an organized video library with projects being easily understood for those in the Communications Department.
  • Will routinely perform videotaping, video equipment set-up and tear down as necessary.
  • Travel to all site locations required in the seven-county service area.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Researches current techniques and equipment in the video industry.
  • Maintain high standards of creativity and quality throughout all projects.
  • Works with other team members on video projects.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.


Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor, managers in other departments, Executives, Board of Directors, customers and outside vendor/service providers.


Position is frequently moving and lifting up to 20 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds when on location. Physical factors include standing, walking, sitting, bending, carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, manual handling of equipment. driving, and typing. Use of hearing, near/midrange/far vision, and depth perception are utilized daily. Working conditions include occasional exposure to weather, extreme cold, wet/humidity and air quality. Potential hazards include constant computer video equipment use, exposure to electric shock, infectious exposure due to human contact.


Education: Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Communications, or a related field or five years of relevant work experience may be substituted for education.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with video editing systems required in addition to the above-stated education requirements.

Certifications/License: Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have knowledge of current techniques and equipment in the video industry. Knowledge of Avid preferred. Must be able to use DVR equipment, PC and standard software, video, editing software, website CMS and equipment software updating. Will be responsible for broadcasting live, videotaping meetings and archiving all video recordings. Must be able to travel to Board Meetings and other assigned locations within the Tribal Seven County Service area. Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must maintain privacy and confidentiality. Native American preferred.
