The Pro Shop Manager, under the direction of the Director of Golf Operations, is responsible for performing retail storekeeping functions for the Pro Shop, including stocking inventory orders, special orders, all sales, setting up displays, performing physical inventory counts, performing opening, closing, and store operation procedures, maintaining store safety and security, machine, and equipment maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
• Acquires knowledge about equipment and merchandise carried in Pro Shop.
• Keeps abreast of current and future product lines related to Pro Shop merchandise.
• Maintains all store equipment is properly cared for.
• Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns specific duties.
• Assist in tournaments setup, scorecards, scoreboards and communication with tournament vendors.
• Provide updates for inclement weather to golfers and coordinate with the Superintendent on golf course conditions permitting playability.
• Provides training to team members on all aspects of Pro Shop functions.
• Tags, and stocks merchandise on racks, shelves, and displays.
• Performs opening, closing, and store operations.
• Adhering to cash handling procedures to include balancing of POS systems and running daily reports.
• Processing of membership fees, green fees, tournaments, and cart rentals.
• Completion of quarterly physical inventory and cycle counts.
• Coordinates purchasing, inventory controls, and other business matters in Pro Shop.
• Coordinates leave requests and disciplinary actions with personnel.
• Assists with the development of marketing strategy for store merchandise and services.
• Assist in preparing an annual budget.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
• Attends seminars, classes, workshops, and management meetings as required.
• Ensures a safe work environment for all team members and ensures all incidents are reported
accurately and in detail.
• Performs functions of subordinate team members, i.e., attendant and cashiering, as needed.
• Ensures all financial transactions are completed in compliance with department policies, and
• Ensures that all proper paperwork is completed and that registers balance at shift end for all subordinates.
• All other job-related duties as assigned.
Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, customers, and outside vendors and/or service providers.
The position has a lifting of 50 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Physical factors include constant standing, walking, use of hearing, near/midrange vision, frequent pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching, manual handling, far vision, depth perception, color vision, typing, bending, occasional sitting, climbing, use of the field of vision. Working conditions include frequent exposure to noise, vibration, and air quality; and occasional exposure to extreme heat/cold. Potential hazards include constant exposure to moving mechanical parts, client contact, equipment use; frequent computer use; occasional exposure to chemicals, insecticides/pesticides, infectious exposure, and equipment use.
Education: Associate degree or certification in Small Business Administration, Business Administration, Finance& Economics, Business Marketing, or a related field or three years demonstrated ability in related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years golf-related experience required. Minimum of three years supervisory experience required in addition to the above-stated requirements. Must have experience organizing golf tournaments and have knowledge of golf rules. Knowledge of USGA regulations preferred.
T.I.P.'s Certification is required within the first 30 days of hire; training will be provided. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of customer service practices is required. Knowledge of product sizing and fitting procedures is required. Knowledge of the sport of golf is required. Knowledge of retail inventory management is preferred. Knowledge of point-of-sale systems is preferred. Must have excellent listening and communication skills. Must have counting, recording, and reconciling deposits skills. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills. Multi-tasking and prioritizing skills are preferred. Must be able to provide acceptable customer service and professionalism without direct supervision. Must be able to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Must be able to respond to difficult and stressful situations in an efficient, effective, and positive manner. Must be able to promote good public relations in a cooperative, productive working environment. Native American preferred.
